BOND LADY BOND SWIMWEAR
Challenge
Design, pattern and construct a swimsuit.
Inspiration
My inspiration: The Bond girls and the saucy suits of the 1960s. One of my favorite Bond scenes was Honey Ryder walking the beach in a belted white bikini yielding a knife with complete confidence in the feature film of the summer of 1962: Dr. No.
Process
I designed this 3-look swim line for comfort and style. Using a 4-way stretch Lycra for swims allows for maxim mobility and performance. Stretch ratio, coverage, and performance were considered during the development process. Prototypes were constructed and analyzed, adjustments made, and work began on the final garments. The color for the final fabric was achieved using fiber reactive dyes. The straps cross in the back to help distribute pressure on the shoulders and allow for greater arm movement. The Safarka (Safari/Parka Jacket) is a cover-up made of a plain weave nylon material that is quick drying for maximum comfort.
Result
The versatile and considered designs will make anyone feel beautiful and confident.
